Healer Counselling:

Counselling sometimes plays an important part in the recovery of an injury, (physical or emotional). All healers are advised on basic counselling skills. They have the opportunity to develop their counselling skills by attending other courses run by the association.

An explanation of counselling from Mind:
Counselling provides a regular time and space for people to talk about their troubles and explore difficult feelings in an environment that is dependable, free from intrusion and confidential. A counsellor should respect your viewpoint while helping you to deal with specific problems, cope with crises, improve your relationships, or develop better ways of living.

To be a good counsellor, you have to be a good listener. This is important when working as a healer with someone for the first time. Listening to the patient about their problems will soon build up a good overall understanding of the conditions that are around them.

People are sometimes frightened by the name of counselling as if this is a bad thing to have. Talking to someone to share their problems is where sometimes the greatest healing can take place. Remembering the "80 - 20" rule even if you think you know the answers to their problems. Listen for 80% of the time, speak for the 20% of the time. They have their story to tell as they see it. Allow that story to unfold.

Counselling and advising happens in everyday life in many situations. Learn to develop that gift, and respect, knowledge and wisdom will become your allies.
